Definition

Process Automation is the third letter of the I|S|P principle: the operational layer where defined workflows are executed without manual intervention.

Prerequisite

Automation requires an articulated process. Automating undefined or contested workflows does not create efficiency — it accelerates the existing disorder.

Automation debt

Automated workflows accumulate operational debt faster than manual ones. When the process changes, the automation does not know — and silent failure modes are harder to detect than human error.
